Financial Freedom Sparks

One of the definitions of freedom is to act freely, without restraint or restrictions. Yet, when it comes to financial freedom, it is most often the lack of restraint which steals away our freedom. The vast majority of Americans have become captive, the opposite of being
free, to creditors and monthly payments with the interest being paid shrinking the value of their incomes.

I wish I had paid more attention to people much wiser than myself much sooner than I have. We, like the majority of other Americans, have fallen victim to “easy” credit and the vicious
cycle of “buy now, pay later”. And pay we have. Making those “small monthly payments” seems easy at first, but it doesn’t stop there, because the next purchase adds “just a few more dollars” to the

monthly payment, and then we are caught. Because we act without restraint, we end up being restrained by the money that now has to go toward paying for what has already been used up, worn out, or may have simply lost it’s appeal.

The strength of the dollar is often a hot topic in the news. When the dollar is weak we end up paying more for the items we
purchase. Unfortunately, many of us weaken our own dollar by paying interest on purchases, which means that we are paying more for those things and leaving ourselves with less income to direct toward the things we need.

There is no way that I can convey even a small part of the wisdom concerning financial freedom in this space, nor could I do it half as well as those who are much wiser than myself concerning these matters, so check out the links to Dave Ramsey’s materials below.
We are currently fighting our way toward financial freedom, and are finding that it is a fight that requires resolve and restraint in order to achieve freedom.

   The Total Money Makeover
by Dave Ramsey

Okay, I'm just going to say it right up front, this is a book that you cannot afford not to get or read. It addresses financial freedom with a passion. Many of us have been convinced that we will just always have to live with debt, even that debt is necessary, but Dave Ramsey breaks down the
credit myths and shows how you can, and must become debt-free.

Financial freedom is not a new idea, but most of us simply don't have a real, viable plan for reaching that goal. In this book, Ramsey outlines a plan to get debt-free. It isn't about instant riches or get-rich-quick schemes, but rather a plan that involves hard work and commitment.

Financial Peace Revisited
by Dave Ramsey

I love Dave's down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-is writing style. His books are engaging, easy to read and full of great information. I actually read this book after I read The Total Money Makeover, and I'm glad I did. My favorite chapter is "Dumping Debt," but that is only part of a healthy financial picture.

By sharing his journey from financial disaster to wealth building, he shows how we can do the same, no matter what our circumstance or age.

The Blessed Life
by Robert Morris

This book is an easy read, but it will change your life for the better. I've read it twice now, and it made just as big an impact on me the second time as it did the first. Morris talks about the principle of "first" and reminds us that God doesn't want our money, He doesn't need it. He wants our hearts. As you read
the simple secret of achieving  guaranteed financial results, you will get excited aoout the future!

Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money--That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!
by Robert T. Kiyosaki

I've included this book in both the Home Business and Financial Freedom
sparks because it fits both places. I finally read this book after hearing about it from several different sources. I read it in one day and it was totally different than I expected. He talks about six lessons he learned from his "rich dad" and gives practical examples of what he's done to build wealth. You may or may not agree with everything he writes, but with an open mind, it will definitely give you some sparks to start, or continue, your own journey to financial freedom.

Home Business
I first began looking for a way to work from home shortly after our son was born in 1989. During the next 11 years, I tried many different ventures. Some of the companies were legitimate, some were not, and eventually I lost thousands of dollars for my efforts.

In November of 2000, I was introduced to a company with a unique business model that just made sense. I got started immediately and through this business, God has blessed us abundantly. Kevin and I now work our business together and it's great to be paid for making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Rainforest Strategy: The Planet's Most Successful Business Model
by Michael Q Pink

A new way of looking at business? Well, maybe not so new, since the rainforest is likely the oldest ecosystem on earth. Not only is the rainforest the most enduring ecosystem it is also the most efficient. The question is
what makes it so?  Is it a vast supply of resources? Perfect growing conditions? The lack of pests or pathogens? It turns out that "no" is the answer to each of these questions.

The secret of the rainforest lies not in its vast supply of resources and ideal conditions, but rather in effeciency and adaptability. This is what makes the rainforest one of the best, if not the best, model for business, today and in the future.

Could a "slumping economy" or a new competitor down the street actually be good for you? Could the economic downfall of some corporate giants actually turn out to be a good thing in the long run? Could difficult circumstances or some pestering problem actually propel you forward?

In this book, Michael Q Pink takes insights he learned from studying the rainforest and brings them into the business realm. Many of the things Pink shares in this book may be principles that you are already familiar with, but the examples from the rainforest bring life to these priciples that can often seem so static.

Throughout the book Pink not only shares the principles behind each illustration but includes strategy and action steps to bring these principles to life in your own situation.

The world needs more rainforests. Could you or your business be the rainforest in your area of influence?

Built on Solid Principles: The Melaleuca Story
by Richard M Barry

I read this book when I first started our home business. It's an inspirational biography of a business man who took principles he learned from his hard-working father and created his own unique business model. He is a great example of how personal growth and tenacity can make dreams come true.

One person can truly make a difference. Enjoy!

The first thing I have to say about this resource is, "Read the book!"

Michael Pink has taken the business principles from his book Rainforest Strategies and combined them with online learning modules and coaching to create an easy-to-access, excellent tool for anyone looking to increase and improve their current business.

I must confess that I have only scratched the surface of all the materials and helps that are available, but have found things that resulted in immediate returns in the first few modules that I sampled as I have started working through the Learning Lab.

The site as a whole is easy to use and self-explanitory as you begin working through various areas. The learning labs are broken up into "bite size" pieces so you don't have to worry about setting aside hours to go through the materials. You can literally work through much of the learning lab with a few spare minutes here and there. Of

course I have found it most beneficial when I can take the time to concentrate on working through at least three or four "chapters" at a time, but find the convenience of being able to squeeze in a chapter here or there a benefit as well.

I plan to write more and share a more in-depth experience as I continue to delve into the information and training, but for now, this is a definite "don't miss" for any business owner, reguardless of business size, as well as for those in management and even those who find themselves in the sales force of a company.

Well worth the investment, especially when you figure what it could cost you if you didn't take advantage of the opportunity.
